Lexiscan Nuclear Stress

If you are unable to exercise, your doctor may combine the nuclear imaging material with a medication called Lexiscan. Lexiscan increases blood flow in your coronary arteries. Healthy arteries respond more than diseased arteries to Lexiscan. The scan shows the areas of your heart that are supplied by healthy arteries and those that may be blocked or narrowed.

Exercise Nuclear Stress

This test uses a radioactive material (isotope) that is injected into the bloodstream and allows the nuclear medicine technologist to take pictures of your heart. Combining exercise (walking on the treadmill) with a nuclear imaging material produces images/pictures that will help your doctor to determine if there is an area of your heart that is not receiving enough blood.
